fluss II
3 accordions

Fluss II [based on the original version for string quartet [1996]] employs the same starter drug that introduced me at the age of thirteen to contemporary music: American minimal music. I regarded Fluss I as a kind of study: to see, how I would go about the task of imperceivably developing a logically accountable starting constellation without actually knowing where this would lead me. At the same time I worked myself through my own history by producing the music that is of great importance in my perception today. The composition of a second version for the critical set of three accordions with all its disadvantages (first and foremost tuning) was my first attempt of writing a piece with didactic intention without appearing academic and lifeless. It was an attempt of offering young students music that comprises techniques known from popular music like repetition (pattern) or simple ways of listening (music as background noise).
