An "Augenbild" [picture of the eye] is within the context of this piece the sensory impression that is percieved on the retina with the eyes closed. This impression can be an after-effect of seeing a bright light, but can also be a misinterpretation of acoustic or tactile impressions on the brain. I have collected different kinds of musical "Augenbilder" and combined them according to a transferred acoustic introspection of an imaginary watcher [i.e. listener]. In addition, time structures are realised visually, visual and acoustic events connect.
The piece was written in collaboration with and is dedicated to the accordionist Sven Hermann. Extensive experimentation with the instrument during composition allowed for specific sound qualities of the accordion to be incorporated into the piece and for improvements to be made and mistakes to be corrected during rehearsals and performances.
